Complicit This was a visitor participation art event which ran during the 2018 HOFS Exhibition of Works and Open Studios weekend.
Visitors to the exhibition were given a gallery entry sticker to wear - identifying them as 'complicit' - and invited to the studio.
There pre-printed 'complicit' prints and mark-making equipment were provided. Those people who wanted to engage stuck their gallery entry stickers in a location of their choice on the print and then proceeded to
alter it in whatever other way they chose - resulting in the creation of a co-authored artwork.
We both signed the finished piece - we were 'complicit'. I scanned it and they took the original home. Many thanks to everyone who came to play.
I then went on to explore ways of extending the complicity.
Combining the scanned works of all the participating visitors, I produced a new set of prints and a video - 'complicit together 1 and 2'.
This was followed by 'complicit forever', a perpetual web canvas which was subsequently displayed, as was 'complicit together 1', at the 2019 HOFS Open Studios exhibition.
